Designing the Preschool

What does the perfect preschool look like, architecturally speaking?  How can a space be designed to speak to the varying needs of each individual child?  The architecture of this school in Japan is fantastically beautiful, but I wonder what image of the child was in mind at the time of its design; the extrovert, the introvert, neither, or both?  Is there space for privacy and the creation of withdrawal spaces?
